While most will recognize the tubular wheels as the go-to choice for top professional riders, the fact remains that tubular tyres are less practical than clinchers for those of us not fortunate enough to have a support car with spare wheels following behind. Now, thanks to some diligent work by Campagnolo engineers, there will be no more reason to sacrifice performance for tyre security as the Bora wheel family is now available in clincher version in addition to the tubular version seen in the pro-tour.
Maximum aerodynamics, extreme speed, incredible handling. The Bora One is sure to give you the utmost satisfaction in any situation. Even on the most challenging mountain curves. Perhaps the most noticeable improvement will come in the form of a new, wider profile of the Bora rim. Moving the width from 20,5mm to 24,2mm allowed engineers not only to improve upon aerodynamics but also to house wider tyres. The wider tyres increase control as the contact area between tyre and asphalt is increased, thus improving grip in addition to creating a more comfortable ride.
The new wider structure also represents an increase in structural strength, thus rendering the already universally lauded resistance and reliability of the Bora even more adept at handling any course or condition that presents itself on race day.
The wider structure aids in aerodynamics, increases structural integrity but also allows engineers to create a lighter version of the famed Bora wheel. While the contrary might seem more likely, the larger profile of the Bora rim creates a stronger structure with less need for material intended for structural reinforcement.Campagnolo is thus able to give increased structural integrity at a lower weight with regards to the rim.
The graphic application was also studied and a new method was utilized which allows Campagnolo to apply the logos via water transfer thus avoiding heavier adhesives. This too represents a weight savings of nearly 15 grams in addition to a cleaner and more durable aesthetic quality.
Weight is further reduced thanks to a smaller profile front hub applied to this new Bora design. Campagnolo engineers were able to reduce the weight and size of the hub while maintaining all of the performance characteristics of the previous version. In other words, the same fantastic Bora performance in a smaller package.
FEATURES AND BENEFITS
FULL CARBON HIGH PROFILE FOR 35mm CLINCHER: provides the maximum aerodynamic penetration. Extremely limited weight. The highest degree of lateral stiffness and reactivity of the wheel.
EXCLUSIVE RIM PRINTING SYSTEM: rim painting no longer required. The weight is greatly reduced and the surface is free from imperfections.
RDB RIM DYNAMIC BALANCE: exclusive system that assures perfect balancing of the rim even at high speeds. Moulded into the rim itself.
NEW 3 DIAMANT TREATMENT: This treatment improves carbon braking performance to the point of feeling similar to aluminium in all conditions.
SPOKES WITH AERODYNAMIC PROFILE: provides the maximum aerodynamic penetration. Reduces aerodynamic drag saving rider energy.
SPOKES ANTI-ROTATION SYSTEM: allows the spokes to maintain the best aerodynamic position.
ALUMINIUM HUB: provides a high degree of lateral stiffness while keeping the weight low.
OVERSIZED FLANGE: greater torsional stiffness and greater reactivity.
CUP AND CONE BEARINGS: easy ball/bearing adjustment - reduces possible ball/bearing play - precision operation - maintains performance over time.
ALUMINIUM AXLE: reduces the weight of the wheel.
QUICK RELEASE: new, completely redesigned and lighter aerodynamic-profile wheel block. Steel spine and eccentric, lever with drill lightening and aluminium die. Eccentric-closure system allows cyclist to modulate the pressure necessary for heightened sensitivity to find the proper closure for the block. Easy to use, with a material resistant to wear and tear, rust, and pressure.
